U.S.- Taylor Lautnerrecognized for his role as Jacob Black in the saga of Twilightrevealed in an interview with ‘The Squeeze’ that he would like to go back in time to show his support for Taylor Swifthis ex-partner, during one of the most disappointing and uncomfortable moments of his entire career: That time when Kanye West he snatched the microphone in the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009 to claim that Taylor did not deserve his award.

The actor explained that when the incident happened, he was in charge of giving the award to the singer, who was just 19 years old at the time; Nevertheless, I thought it was part of a stagingso he didn’t react as he probably should have at the time.

Halfway through his thank you speech, Kanye jumps up on stage. He could barely be heard. He couldn’t see them. I’m just assuming this was all a rehearsed, rehearsed skit. Why would Kanye West interrupt Taylor Swift on stage? It did not make sense. And if you turn to see the moment, they see me laughing and with a smile. I was like, ‘I can’t hear you guys, but this is probably hilarious,'” Lautner said.

Taylor Lautner may have made a reference to Swift’s “Back to December”

However, she soon realized that the situation was a bitter pill for the singer of “You Belong with Me”: “(Kanye) left the stage, she finished (the speech). The second he turned around and I saw his face for the first time, I was like ‘oh’. No, this… that was not good.

Taylor Swift’s followers immediately filled social media with comments of love and thanks for the “Luna Nueva” actor, since there are not many ex-boyfriends of the singer who still maintain a relationship of deep respect and admiration.

They also wasted no time in making some comparisons with what Lautner said and what Swift sings in “Back to December”, a ballad dedicated to the actor in which he apologizes for having neglected their relationship. In the song, Swift expresses his desire to “go back in time” and appreciate Lautner’s displays of affectioninstead of taking them for granted.

Both artists met during the recordings of “Valentine’s Day”in which they played a couple of teenagers in love, in 2009; Nevertheless, they broke off their relationship just a few months later.

For years Angelina Jolie has wanted to take advantage of her fame to give voice and visibility to social and humanitarian causes. Just over a month ago, the 47-year-old actress and director decided to end more than two decades linked to UNHCR, the organization for refugees dependent on the UN. With them, participated in more than 60 field missions to learn first-hand about the situation in different refugee camps. But that was not why he was going to completely disassociate himself from humanitarian causes, according to what he said. Jolie is now in Iraq to meet with survivors of the August 3, 2014 genocide in the Sinjar region.

The aim of the Islamic State was to eliminate the Yazidi population, culture and religion —they considered that Yazidisism was based on devil worship. There were those who were able to leave the region before the arrival of the terrorists, but those who could not escape ended up being tortured and killed. As for the youngest, they were kidnapped and later sold in slave markets. One of the bloodiest massacres took place in the town of Kocho, where 334 men and 72 women died. In the following days, the Sinjar mountain sheltered more than 100,000 refugees, creating an international alarm.

One of the survivors was the activist Nadie Murad, who managed to escape ISIS captivity after months of torture and rape before being sold on the slave market in 2014. Some time after the event, she decided to found the Nadia Initiative, a non-profit organization that has helped give visibility to the cause, to rebuild schools and hospitals in the area.

Jolie’s trip to Sinjar, in northern Iraq, it has been with Murad, who has accompanied him on a visit to his home and the town where he lived until the jihadites arrived; as well as other key areas of the region, where the organization works for the recovery of heritage and essential services for the population. In addition, the actress met with women and children who survived the genocide. More than 6,000 were enslaved during the time the jihadist conquest lasted, which also left much of the infrastructure completely useless. According to the statement published by Murad’s organizationmany of them are survivors of sexual slavery who, after liberation, decided to return to Sinjar with the hope of building a better future and returning home.

“Angelina Jolie has been instrumental in raising awareness and meeting the needs of women, children and refugees around the world. I am happy to have the opportunity to show such a dedicated advocate my homeland and show her the incredible progress we have made toward recovery and the remaining needs of my community.” commented activist Murad.

“I am happy to return to Iraq, this time to support the work of my friend Nadia Murad and other local Yazidis who are rebuilding their lives and communities after enduring the horrors. I have witnessed the progress they have made, but also the need for long-term international commitment to support their work and leadership. The survivors continue to fight against the trauma, insecurity, displacement and slow progress of reparations”, the actress and director expressed in the note released by Iniciativa de Nadia. “I met families who are still looking for answers about the disappearance of their loved ones and others who still lack support to cover their basic needs. The local people are working to help themselves and they deserve all the respect and support”, added the interpreter.

Murad was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018 after years of fighting to make visible the horrors and massacres that were being committed in her country. In an interview conducted last year for the magazine Time, precisely in which Angelina Jolie served as an interviewer, explained more details about the project: “When I founded the Nadia Initiative, I just wanted to focus on documenting what happened to us, especially the stories of the survivors and what ISIS did to us. It takes time to do projects to document the evidence, but even those challenges we can use to prevent what happened to us from happening to others.”

And the winner is… a 16-year-old teenager who posts videos about his life on the farm, rewarded during a new kind of ceremony, celebrating the best influencers of the year, at a time when their activity enters in the age of suspicion.

Big hat, brown curls, angelic smile, the Colombian Carlos Alberto Diaz, alias “lagranjadelborrego” (the lamb farm in Spanish), was honored in the category of the best creators of educational content, during an award ceremony TikTok, Tuesday night in Mexico City.

On his account, which claims 16.5 million subscribers, “El Borrego” recounts his life as a “nice farmer” in the region of Cundinamarca (central Colombia), and the care he lavishes on his animals (lambs, foals, chicks). “Everyday I record videos, watch trends, what people like”says the high school student, who of course seeks to monetize his content, like the hundred or so nominees that evening.

Open shirt collar like a movie star, Ruben Tuesta won a “TikTok award” in the category of “masters of Lol” (humor). With his videos parodying ordinary scenes of family life, Tuesta claims 28 million subscribers on TikTok, 11 million on YouTube… spread throughout Latin America. “Most are between 18 and 25 years old”explains the Peruvian who lives in Buenos Aires.

The 25-year-old influencer makes a living selling her prescription power to brands. “You make them a video. They pay you to make the brand visible.”

“Borrego”, Tuesta, as well as hundreds of influencers and their fans took over the studios of Televisa, the Mexican television network which hosted and broadcast the ceremony on one of its channels.

The nominees walked down a Hollywood-style red carpet before heading into the awards room.

As at the Oscars or the Grammys, the nominees were divided into categories, 14 in total: “masters of flavors”, “beauty artist”, “pro of the gaming“, “best new artist”, or even “trend of the year”. The vote to designate the winners was open to the general public of users since January 16.

Whirlwind of controversy

Also on Sunday in Mexico City, thousands attended the Esland Awards for Best Spanish Language Streamers on YouTube and Twitch.

“Film has the Oscars, music has the Grammys and content creation has the Eslands”proclaimed the organizers, including Spanish youtuber David Cánovas, alias TheGrefg, quoted by the Spanish newspaper El País.

Launched in May last year, TikTok Awards have already taken place elsewhere in the world. The first edition in France took place on November 14 in Paris, to reward “the most significant campaigns broadcast on the platform in 2022”had indicated the platform.

TikTok claimed over a billion regular users in September 2021, just four years after it was launched by Chinese group ByteDance. Its CEO, Shou Zi Chew, will be heard by the US Congress on March 23 regarding the app’s impact on children and the platform’s relationship with the Chinese Communist Party.

US conservative elected officials accuse TikTok of being a tool of espionage or propaganda in the service of Beijing. On January 10 in Brussels, European leaders called on the same CEO of TikTok to respect “entirely” EU rules on data protection and the fight against disinformation.

Prescribers on social networks for a good ten years now, influencers have also found themselves at the heart of several controversies.

In the United States, eight of them were charged with fraud for advising their subscribers to buy shares they planned to sell on the stock exchange.

In France, a deputy presented a bill to put an end to a “law void”. It plans to create a legal status for influencers and to prohibit them from promoting certain products (medicines, financial investments, etc.). The text will be examined by the Assembly by the end of March.

Among the more or less prestigious faces of the evening of self-celebration of Hollywood, slipped that of a quasi-unknown outside the British borders. Colin Farrell, Austin Butler, Bill Nighy, Brendan Fraser and… a certain Paul Mescal. At 26, the Irishman, revealed by the series Normal People – which nevertheless earned him a Bafta (the Caesars across the Channel) – is now in the running for an Oscar, best actor category. If he does not leave favorite, this surprise nomination rewards above all a sacred number, contrary to what an industry always more fond of performance offers. In aftersun, jewel signed Charlotte Wells, it knows how to be soft, nuanced and subtle where others would have been honeyed, monotonous and caricatural. It is like a film that never highlights its effects, and of which it is far from being the only asset. This is evidenced by the cascade of awards received at the best festivals, including Deauville (grand prize and audience prize) and Critics’ Week (French Touch jury prize).

A luminous film that assumes its shadow areas

It all starts on a television. Curtains yellowed by time, an unmade bed and laughter. Grainy and trembling, the image refers to a bluish past, that of the end of the 1990s. A moment stolen from his father, Calum (Paul Mescal), by his daughter Julie (Frankie Corio), in some room of a club hotel just as unremarkable. The joy has not yet disappeared but we feel it fragile. In front of the small screen, Julie, years and more misfortunes, dissects these recorded memories. A question to find the missing pieces to her puzzle: how could she not see anything?

On the opposite side, the banality of a week’s vacation under the Turkish sun. The sea, billiards, dodger. The father, the daughter, a duo of the most complicit. Camcorder systematically at the end of the arm (the other being plastered), Calum is a dad-buddy more buddy than dad. And Julie, this child-adult more adult than child. He, good-natured, takes everything in derision, as if to hide the deep malaise that gnaws at him. She, from the height of her 11 years, is at this age where one wants to grow up to look like the big ones who roll their skates. On the face side, melancholy devours everything that the father’s depression has not already ravaged. How to mourn? How to get rid of guilt? Where to find the answers?

The Scottish Charlotte Wells, who is delivering her first feature here, skilfully alternates between the two sides of her mysterious play, snippet after snippet, without worrying about chronology or narration. His pointillism carries everything away, with a modest grace. And his aftersun to emerge from the miracle at this gloomy start to the year. Like the Somewhere, by Sofia Coppola (2010), with whom the filiation is obvious, he is one of those solar films that assume their shadowy areas. From there is born a sublime work on emotional contamination where the sadness of one will end, sooner or later and without warning, by reflecting on the other.

Louis Malle
A filmmaker apart in the history of French cinema, away from the New Wave and torn between a French and an American filmography, Louis Malle remains one of the greatest directors of French cinema and one of the most popular. , a dozen of his films have exceeded one million admissions. His career was rewarded with the most prestigious awards, including the Palme d’Or and theOscar for Best Documentary to The silent worldthe Louis Delluc Prize to Elevator to the Gallows, two special jury prizes at Venice for Les amants and Le feu follet.
The thirty films – fiction and documentaries – that he shot in forty years testify to an unquenchable curiosity, scenarios and staging of great subtlety, making these works among the most fascinating and original in history. the cinema.

Interview of Mary Barbadirector of Variety cinema in Marseille to present the Recall Festival around David Cronenberg and body horrorof February 1 to 5 with one of the most recognized special effects creators
French cinema, Olivier Afonso.

For this edition, the Recall Festival will address the theme of Body Horror.

This genre, very inspired by Gothic literature, inscribes horror in the bodies, which are kneaded, mutilated, transformed to monstrosity. Programming
will therefore revolve around a retrospective of director David Cronenberg, a master in the field (Scanners, Frissons, Rage, Chromosome 3, Videodrome, Existenz, etc.). To discuss with the public about this exceptional filmmaker, Guy Astic, film teacher at the University of Aix Marseille, and Simon Riaux, film journalist are invited (Large screen, France Culture, the Circle…).
In honor, Lucile Hadzihalilovic, French director and screenwriter. His works, flirting between poetry and violence, between dream and reality, offer splendid metamorphoses, both literally and figuratively. After presenting Evolutionshe will be present Friday, February 4 for a masterclass and carte blanche. The aesthetic aspect plays a major role in the genre: that’s why we invited one of the most recognized special effects creators in French cinema, Olivier Afonso. He will join us on Saturday February 5 for a discussion after the screening of the film Grave, by Julia Ducournau, in which he took part.

Here we go to the cinema

Every Wednesday evening on France Bleu Provence, one of the voices of the association ” The Screens of the South
“, gives you two spotlights, one on a film showing, the other on a cinema event!
With Vincent Thabourey, Managing Director of Ecrans du Sud we talk about:

  • The theatrical release, this February 1, of “after-sunby Charlotte Wells.
  • Event : “Birds, big and small” by Pier Paolo Pasolini, on Saturday February 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the cinema Le Bourguet to Forcalquier

To (re)listen to the show, it’s this way

after-sun

With melancholy, Sophie recalls the summer holidays with her father twenty years ago, but also what hovered above those precious moments: the invisible threat of dying happiness. She then searches among these memories for answers
to the question that obsesses her: who was this man she feels she doesn’t know?

Birds, big and small

A talking crow tries to introduce two travellers, a father and his son, to the finer things in life. Faced with their ignorance, he tells them an authentic story, that of Saint Francis of Assisi who once sent two monks to evangelize the birds. Big and small…

Long live the cinema!

Eleven countries in the world sell their passports for cash. The architect of this citizenship business is a Swiss lawyer. Nicknamed the “King of Passports”, he runs the most powerful company in the market. An investigation by the RTS program Mise au Point lifts the veil on this industry estimated at 20 billion francs.

On its website, the company Henley and PartnersExternal link sells nationalities like luxury goods. Among the eleven countries listed, there are micro-nations of the Caribbean such as Saint Lucia or Antigua, but also states of the European Union such as Austria or Malta. Prices vary between 100,000 and several million francs.

For the States, the goal is to attract the money of the great fortunes. For the ultra-rich, it’s the promise of a passport that will allow them to travel freely. Henley and Partners has designed several programs with governments. The firm pockets a commission on each nationality granted.

The “king of passports” is a Swiss lawyer

The chairman of Henley and Partners is a lawyer from Zurich. Nicknamed the “king of passports” or “Mister Citizenship”, Christian Kälin agreed to respond to Mise au Point. According to him, “citizenship is a lottery. No one chooses to be born in this or that country. It is unfair. This is why we believe that citizenship should be made accessible for money or investment”.

It all started in the Caribbean in the 2000s. Christian Kälin ran the passport sales program for Saint Kitts and Nevis, a microstate in the region. “At the time, the country lacked income. Many people are out of work because the sugarcane industry has collapsed. The sale of citizenship has attracted a lot of investment and many hotels have been built,” he explains.

Henley and Partners then designs the program for the island of Malta. The sale of his passport brings in the smallest state in the European Union more than a billion euros. Hundreds of Saudis, Chinese and Russian businessmen have purchased Maltese nationality to travel freely within the Schengen area, including Switzerland.

Fictitious domiciles, collusion and suspected dubious profiles

The profile of some buyers questions. “Several Russian oligarchs have bought Maltese citizenship. We can cite Arkadi Voloj, he is a Russian billionaire close to the Kremlin, placed under sanction by the European Union last summer”, indicates Roland Papp, investigator for the NGO Transparency International.

On site, the Mise au Point team was able to observe that the homes advertised by buyers of Maltese passports do not at all correspond to their way of life. For many local journalists, these are fictional homes.

“It disgusts me. Henley and Partners is a hacker firm. It targets states where institutions are fragile to expand its business,” says Matthew Caruana Galizia. A Pulitzer Prize winner, he is the son of Daphne Caruana Galizia, a famous investigative journalist who long investigated golden passports before she was murdered in 2017.

According to him, the passport sales program has generated an unhealthy climate and suspicions of corruption. “The institutions have been weakened by the collusion between Christian Kälin and the political world in Malta”, he denounces. After the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, several Maltese politicians had to resign. Neither Henley and Partners nor Christian Kälin have been the subject of legal inquiries.

The boss of Henley and Partners refutes these accusations. According to him, the golden passport program has generated unprecedented economic growth in Malta. “There are always people who abuse the system but the risks are minimal, especially when compared to those of the migration system as a whole,” he says.

Who should win at Sunday’s Grammys

The honeycomb is buzzing at the prospect of Beyoncé having a chance to make Grammy history this year, ensuring that there will be strong emotions at Sunday’s ceremony in which she competes with the likes of Adele, Kendrick Lamar and Harry Styles.

Beyoncé needs just four more trophies to become the Recording Academy’s most awarded artist. The odds are in her favor for most of the categories she’s nominated in, including album of the year and record of the year.

Associated Press writers Jonathan Landrum Jr. and Kristin M. Hall present their Grammy predictions. The 65th annual Grammy Awards will air on Sunday on CBS and Paramount+ in the United States, as well as the TNT cable channel for Latin America.

ALBUM OF THE YEAR: “Voyage”, ABBA; “30,” Adele; “A Summer Without You”, Bad Bunny; “Renaissance,” Beyonce; “Good Morning Gorgeous” (Deluxe), Mary J. Blige; “In These Silent Days,” Brandi Carlile; “Music of the Spheres,” Coldplay; “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers”, Kendrick Lamar; “Special,” Lizzo; “Harry’s House”, Harry Styles.

LANDRUM: Beyoncé is going for her throne at the Grammys, again. With the superstar one step away from becoming the most awarded artist in Grammy history, it’s no coincidence that Queen Bey recently returned to live performance for the first time in four years with a star-studded show at the luxury hotel. Dubai’s newest. She even had a two-night event called “Club Renaissance” in Los Angeles last month with Amazon Music to celebrate her seventh album “Renaissance,” nominated for album of the year. Beyoncé’s pitch is strong, and these performances feel like a grand tour toward her multiple Grammy crowning. All due respect to the other nominees in the category, but Beyoncé is an easy pick here. It is logical.

HALL: The last time Adele and Beyoncé were nominated in this category, the British singer-songwriter used her acceptance speech to praise Beyoncé, calling her the “artist of my life.” This is one of the most competitive years in the category with so many deserving albums from the biggest artists. It would be amazing to see Bad Bunny take the award for her hugely popular “A Summer Without You,” but I agree with Jonathan, all signs point to a record-breaking year for Beyoncé.

RECORD OF THE YEAR: “Don’t Shut Me Down,” ABBA; “Easy on Me,” Adele; “Break My Soul,” Beyonce; “Good Morning Gorgeous,” Mary J. Blige; “You and Me on the Rock,” Brandi Carlile featuring Lucius; “Woman,” Doja Cat; “Bad Habit,” Steve Lacy; “The Heart Part 5,” Kendrick Lamar; “About Damn Time,” Lizzo; “As It Was”, Harry Styles.

HALL: There are so many danceable songs to choose from this year! Lizzo is a vibe powerhouse with catchy lyrics and Harry Styles’ pop rock track “As It Was” is an undeniable fan favorite hit. Although Adele pulls off a masterful performance on “Easy on Me,” I don’t think she has command of her other record of the year nominated song “Hello.” For me the best two in the category are “Break My Soul” and “Bad Habit”. “Break My Soul,” inspired by 1990s house music, exudes quite a mood and is an exciting turn for Beyoncé, so she’ll likely add this award to her Grammy-trophy rack.

LANDRUM: I’m all with Beyoncé for the album of the year category, but I’m going with Harry Styles’ “As It Was” for this award. I send my love to the other nominees like Kendrick Lamar, Steve Lacy, and Adele — who all deserve this award, too. But “As It Was” was simply too big and is in a category where commercial hits often rule. It seems to me that we have heard his viral tune everywhere we go. Even my 2 year old daughter loves it when she listens to it, sings it and asks to play it again and again and again.

SONG OF THE YEAR (SONGWRITER AWARDS): “abcdefu,” Sara Davis, GAYLE and Dave Pittenger; “About Damn Time,” Melissa “Lizzo” Jefferson, Eric Frederic, Blake Slatkin, and Theron Makiel Thomas; “All Too Well (10 Minute Version – The Short Film),” Liz Rose and Taylor Swift; “As It Was,” Tyler Johnson, Kid Harpoon, and Harry Styles; “Bad Habit,” Matthew Castellanos, Brittany Fousheé, Diana Gordon, John Carroll Kirby, and Steve Lacy; “Break My Soul,” Beyoncé, S. Carter, Terius “The Dream” Gesteelde-Diamant, and Christopher A. Stewart; “Easy on Me,” Adele Adkins and Greg Kurstin; “God Did,” Tarik Azzouz, E. Blackmon, Khaled, F. LeBlanc, Shawn Carter, John Stephens, Dwayne Carter, William Roberts, and Nicholas Warwar; “The Heart Part 5,” Jake Kosich, Johnny Kosich, Kendrick Lamar, and Matt Schaeffer; “Just Like That”, Bonnie Raitt.

LANDRUM: I may have picked Harry Styles to win the record of the year category, but Beyoncé’s powerful words on “Break My Soul” spoke to my spirit — especially in a category for songwriters creating the lyrics or melodies of a song. Their song became a post-pandemic dancefloor anthem thanks to its bouncy melody and lyrics by a formidable songwriting team that includes Beyoncé, her husband Jay-Z, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart — who is behind it. from singles like Rihanna’s “Umbrella” and Mary J. Blige’s “Just Fine”. In this collaboration, the foursome created a collection of inspirational words fit for Beyoncé, who took the baton and delivered them with beautiful authority. “Break My Soul” should be the first to cross the finish line for song of the year.

HALL: If you’ve only heard the TikTok snippet of Steve Lacy’s ethereal confessional song, do yourself a favor and listen to it in full, and then his full album as well. The song, like Lacy, is experimental and complicated, twisting and twisting into something entirely new, while his voice is enchantingly captivating. I think he’s the dark horse in this category, in which he competes against so many talented composers.

BEST NEW ARTIST: Anitta; Omar Apollo; DOMi & JD Beck; Muni Long; Samara Joy; Latto; Manekskin; Tobe Nwigwe; Molly Tuttle; Wet Leg.

HALL: Normally, it feels like there are one or two strong contenders in this category who are riding the wave of big success, but this year the category is pretty wide open. Bluegrass musician Molly Tuttle and R&B singer-songwriter Muni Long are pretty established in their respective musical fields and it would be great if they got the attention they deserve with a win in this category. But I think Anitta has a huge advantage with the worldwide success of her “Wrap,” even if she’s not as familiar to American audiences.

LANDRUM: Anitta definitely feels like the top pick in this close category. The Brazilian artist has been a phenomenon with her trilingual album “Versions of Me”, led by her single “Envolver”. Månekskin, Muni Long and Latto can also give surprises. But I will go with the dark horse of the category: Tobe Nwigwe. He became known with “I Need You To,” a 44-second song that drew attention to the murder of Breonna Taylor by police in Kentucky. It was shared by stars like LeBron James, Madonna and Diddy. Furthermore, the Nigerian singer and rapper has posted one original song and one video every week on his social media for the past few years. He sings with his wife, Fat Nwigwe, and their ballad “Fye” is a real hit.

BEST SOLO POP PERFORMANCE: “Easy on Me,” Adele; “Moscow Mule”, Bad Bunny; “Woman,” Doja Cat; “Bad Habit,” Steve Lacy; “About Damn Time,” Lizzo; “As It Was”, Harry Styles.

LANDRUM: This one is tough, every song is a certified hit. Something tells me it will be Adele or Steve Lacy in this category with strong contenders. But my mind, my heart and my soul scream “HARRY STYLES”. I’ll leave with this second feeling. “As it Was” for me.

HALL: Adele would probably win in this category if voters are more inclined to choose Beyoncé in the main categories.

BEST RAP PERFORMANCE: “GOD DID,” DJ Khaled featuring Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, John Legend and Fridayy; “Vegas,” Doja Cat; “pushing P,” Gunna and Future with Young Thug; “FNF (Let’s Go),” Hitkidd and GloRilla; “The Heart Part 5,” Kendrick Lamar.

HALL: I’ll give my full support to Memphis native GloRilla for her first Grammy nomination for her hit “FNF (Let’s Go)”. Her strength and bravery come through in this song that celebrates being free and proves that she can go as hard as any male rapper.

LANDRUM: Kendrick Lamar’s “The Heart Part 5” will win, but DJ Khaled’s “GOD DID” should come out on top. Why? Because Khaled brought Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Mr. EGOT John Legend and Rick Ross together on one song, God definitely did that.

BEST R&B PERFORMANCE: “VIRGO’S GROOVE,” Beyoncé; “Here With Me,” Mary J. Blige featuring Anderson .Paak; “Hrs & Hrs”, Muni Long; “Over,” Lucky Daye; Hurt Me So Good, Jasmine Sullivan.

LANDRUM: Jazmine Sullivan could do it again with “Hurt Me So Good” after she won in the same category last year for “Pick Up Your Feelings.” The charm of Beyoncé’s “VIRGO’S GROOVE” also gives her a good chance of winning. There are other viable contenders like Mary J. Blige and Lucky Daye, who both had hits of their own. But if I had to bet, my money would go to Muni Long’s “Hrs & Hrs,” a popular breakout song for a best new artist nominee. After building a lot of momentum in the year, I think Muni (pronounced Money) will be able to cash in on her in this category.

HALL: When Muni Long starts the song by whispering “Can I sing to you?” (Can I sing to you?) With her sultry voice, it’s clear she’s masterfully in control. I hope she wins.

BEST COUNTRY SOLO PERFORMANCE: “Heartfirst,” Kelsea Ballerini; “Something In The Orange,” Zach Bryan; “In His Arms,” Miranda Lambert; “Circles Around This Town,” Maren Morris; “Live Forever,” Willie Nelson.

HALL: I think the Recording Academy voters tried to send a message by nominating “Live Forever” by Willie Nelson, who (remarkably) will turn 90 this year and shows no signs of retiring. But I think new artist Zach Bryan has momentum and has caused a stir, so the slow “Something In The Orange” should win.

LANDRUM: I think Zach Bryan is the biggest threat to Willie Nelson. But Nelson still performs at a high level in his late 90s and his song “Live Forever” is a fitting title for his legacy.
